We partner closely with customers to move from experimentation to real-world transformation, owning adoption, technical readiness, and long-term value realization. The team accelerates delivery in production and shapes how OpenAI’s products drive measurable business outcomes. We work cross-functionally with Sales, Solutions Architecture, Technical Success, and Product to bring frontier AI safely and successfully to market. **About the Role** We are seeking a senior technical leader to manage and scale a high-performing team of AI Success Engineers. This team owns post-sale technical success for ChatGPT Enterprise, driving customer onboarding, activation, and adoption through structured programs, enablement, and change-management playbooks. AI Success Engineers are deeply technical and hands-on, supporting customers with advanced capabilities including connectors, Codex, custom GPTs, and other frontier features as they are released. They partner closely with customer stakeholders to ensure solutions are deployed effectively, adopted broadly, and delivering real business impact. In this role, you will set team strategy, ensure strong execution and technical rigor, and build mechanisms that enable scale, consistency, and operational excellence—while staying close to customers and the field. This role is based in New York or San Francisco and follows a hybrid schedule of three days per week in office. Regional travel is expected. **In This Role, You Will** * Own the strategy and operating model for the AI Success Engineering team, ensuring alignment with OpenAI’s objectives and customer needs * Hire, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of AI Success Engineers with strong technical foundations and customer impact * Oversee successful post-sale adoption of OpenAI products across enterprises, digital-native companies, and high-growth organizations * Ensure technical readiness and adoption of advanced OpenAI capabilities, partnering closely with customers on real-world use cases * Represent the voice of the customer to inform product development and commercial strategy * Establish operating rhythms (e.g., leadership rollups, knowledge-sharing forums, best-practice exchanges) to drive consistency and scalability * Build scalable programs, playbooks, and operating mechanisms that support long-term customer success * Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Solutions Architecture, Solutions Engineering, and Product to deliver a unified customer experience **You’ll Thrive in This Role If You** * Have 8+ years of experience leading technical teams, including 3+ years managing post-sales technical roles such as customer engineering, solutions engineering, deployment, or professional services in enterprise SaaS or AI environments * Have a proven track record scaling technical teams and operating models in high-growth environments * Have experience designing or owning coverage models, staffing strategies, and engagement frameworks for post-sales technical teams * Can engage and influence executive stakeholders within complex, global organizations * Are a strong communicator who can bridge technical depth and business outcomes * Have experience with Generative AI (preferred) or adjacent SaaS platforms * Operate with humility, ownership, and a bias toward action to ensure customer and team success **About OpenAI** OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company dedicated to ensuring that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity.
